In addition to Causeview Impact Designer's customization functionality, another helpful feature is you can actually submit test donations through your custom form in preview mode to validate the form works and verify how the data will be mapped back in Causeview. The test donation submission will not require real payment information, so you don't have to worry about using your personal payment details or refunding the payment afterwards. Furthermore, test donation submissions will not create any real data in your Causeview instance, so you don't have to worry about cleaning up the test data created in your instance.
In this article, you will learn how easy it is to submit the test donation in preview mode, and how to view the test submission data by following these simple steps:
1) In the form designer mode, ensure there's no warnings at the top right corner or error in the Error Log, or else you would not be able to submit to the form even in test mode. You must make sure the form is set up correctly in order to submit a test donation.
2) Once you've confirmed the form is set up properly, you can go to the "Toggle Preview" tab at the top navigation bar.

3) Fill out the donation and contact information with any information.

4) For the Payment section, use valid test credit card or ACH payment information. Please note you cannot enter random numbers or use real payment details, payment information must be valid test credentials. Here are iATS' valid test credit card and ACH credentials.
5) Once you have filled out the form, click on the submit button.

6) You will be redirected to the confirmation page where you can now click on "View Test Submission Data" to see how the data would have been mapped into Causeview.
7) Under "Salesforce Entities", you can see the object (e.g. Individual, Transaction), and the fields (First Name, Last Name, Expected Amount, etc) that would have written back into Causeview.

8) You can also verify the lookup criteria of your form to see how the form is set up to match back to your existing constituent. E.g. If the First Name AND Email from the donation submission matches with one of your constituent's First Name AND Email in your Causeview instance, the information will be updated to your existing constituent record. If it doesn't match, a new constituent record will be created as a result.

9) Once you are finished viewing the test submission data, you can navigate back to the top navigation bar and click on "Toggle Design" to return to the form designer mode.

In summary, Causeview Impact Designer allows you validate your custom online forms by offering you the ability to submit and view test donation data. This testing functionality ensures no records are unnecessarily created or updated in your live Causeview production instance. All test donation submissions are simply created in the Toggle Preview mode, and are made against the preview version of the form to allow you to view how the records would have been created in Causeview. Another benefit of submitting a test donation is you do not need to use real/personal payment information since test submission only accepts valid test payment credentials.
