Gifts are a common type of transaction which include most of the incoming donations and revenue in Causeview. Gifts can come in several different “types” which help you to track similar gifts and maintain payment schedules when required.
Gift types in Causeview include:
One Time Gift - the most common gift type for most organizations, a singular payment.
Recurring Gift - a gift of a set amount which occurs on a regular schedule, usually associated with an automatic payment from a credit card.
Pledge - a promise made by a constituent to gift your organization with a set amount of money, often over several payments.
Corporate Sponsorship - a gift from an organization as part of a sponsorship, usually as part of a partnership and often associated with an event.
In Kind - a gift in the form of goods or services, recorded in Causeview as an amount of money equivalent to the value of the gift.
Stock - a gift in the form of stock, recorded in Causeview as an amount of money equivalent to the value of the stock at the time the gift is given.
Gift types are used largely to help your organization keep track of the origin of different gifts, and selecting one time gift, corporate sponsorship, in kind, or stock will not change the function of the transaction. However, recurring gifts and pledges consist of multiple payments, and Causeview treats these gift types differently in order to help you maintain payment schedules and input payments.
